Kinsta is a premier managed WordPress hosting provider. They offer a secure, easy to use, incredibly fast hosting environment on the Google Cloud Platform.

Overview

Who Kinsta is For:

If you want lightening fast site speeds and have a near to hands off managed WordPress experience then Kinsta is a good fit for you. In addition, if you’re running a WordPress LMS plugin like LearnDash or LifterLMS with a decent amount of visitors, then Kinsta can support it. It’s the hosting choice for many with highly trafficked or complex WordPress sites.

Skill Level:

The Kinsta dashboard area has been designed with ease of use in mind. You can get everything set-up very quickly and easily without problems. If you have any questions, help through the chat box is available within minutes (I never waited more than 5 minutes for a reply back even on weekends). No previous skills are necessary.

Deployment:

You’ll login to your Kinsta dashboard online. That dashboard allows you to install WordPress, manage your site, see analytics, and do anything else you may need. It’s very easy to use and can be accessed from a mobile phone although it’s not set-up as a mobile app.

Special Features:

Sites hosted on Kinsta are just plain fast. You will likely not experience faster hosting at these prices. Speed is the number 1 special feature, but in addition, I found their staging environment superb over any other I’ve tried.

A staging environment is handy when you’re updating your site like for instance when you’re changing your theme. You can pull your live site into a staging environment where it will copied. Once there, make your changes. While in that staging environment, none of the changes will be live. Once you have your staged site exactly how you’d like it, you can push it live with just one-click of a button. It really takes the stress out of updating your site including updating plugins, theme changes, or anything else.

Disadvantages:

Between the blazing fast site speed, intuitive dashboard, responsive support, and staging feature, there’s not much to complain about when it comes to Kinsta. However, it is a little expensive and the fact that they charge based on the number of visitors to your site means you’ll likely keep getting bumped up as far as charges go.

For me, the starter plan at $30/month didn’t really come with enough disk space to run my site so that can be a problem too. If you have a new site that doesn’t have much traffic, but is complex enough to need more than 5GB, you’ll have to go to the next plan. If you do the math; next to no profits, but expensive hosting, it might make sense to hold off on using Kinsta. Hopefully by the time you get up to a site with 1,000,000 visitors you’ll be making a nice profit even after paying the $600/month Kinsta hosting fee!

Kinsta hosting is unique in the hosting space since it runs on the Google Cloud Platform. The most similar hosting is probably WPEngine which also focuses on managed WordPress hosting. It’s also a fast, popular choice for hosting WordPress sites.
