Who are you and what course have you created?
I was born and raised in Western Australia, and always knew deep down that I wanted to have a big impact on the world. One that transcended my small town roots. I was always a high-achiever and was especially good at ‘climbing’ the career ladder. So much so, in fact, that I forgot to enjoy the climb. At 28, I landed my dream job – Head of Marketing Strategy. But all it did was force me to realize that no amount of career wins was going to satisfy a deeper yearning from my soul to lead a different type of life. I really wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
The programs I currently have available are The Swift Marketing Mastermind™, Swift Mindset Method™, and Swift Inner Circle.
What market does your online course serve?
I’ll continue to share more about the Swift Marketing Mastermind for the questions herein as it’s the main way I work with my clients.
The Swift Marketing Mastermind is the program I use for clients ready to generate their first six figures in business. In this 6-month program, I empower my clients with the marketing & mindset strategies, tools, and information that I’ve used to build MY business to six figures, using my signature Swift Marketing Method™.
This program is specifically for high-performing, heart-centered coaches, creatives, and consultants building their online product and service-based businesses.
What’s the biggest benefit of taking your course?
My clients’ results have consisted of: creating consistent income in their business, getting crystal clear on their business model, generating consistent clients, building 6 figure + businesses, becoming empowered CEOs and completely changing their mindset.
How did you get into the market?
I worked in corporate marketing for 10 years, and when I transitioned out of the corporate world I began marketing coaching small business owners.
Two things happened during that time:
- I recognized that mindset was one of the biggest challenges impacting my clients from creating robust strategies, and from showing up in their marketing, which led to the creation of the Swift Marketing Method™. This is the process I support my clients with.
- I quickly became fully booked 1:1, which led to the creation of the Swift Marketing Mastermind model. I knew I still wanted to work with my clients in the role of coach and be able to facilitate impactful change, which is how this program came to life.
Why did you decide to create an online course in the first place?
I was fully booked with 1:1 clients when I began creating the Swift Marketing Mastermind, which was the solution to support more people and provide them with additional services they didn’t get from working with me 1:1.I believe that we all thrive within the community, and so creating a solution that enabled my clients to support one another, as well as get the coaching support from me, felt like an incredible option. - Ellie Swift Click To Tweet
Did you have any moments of doubt before you created/launched it?
Absolutely, so much doubt! The biggest thought process for me was – what if no one wants this? What if they ONLY want to work with me 1:1 and I can’t scale this service? I also had many doubts about my ‘formula’ of what was included in the Mastermind, as I’d seen so many but never any that had everything I was including. I definitely had moments of, “why is this? If I haven’t seen anything specifically like this before, is there a reason for that?”
If so what made you turn it around and do it anyway?
I asked my current clients a LOT of questions and built out a program that spoke directly to their needs and desires. I also had a deep, soul knowing that it was the right move, and I always lead with my intuition. It hasn’t steered me wrong yet.
What’s your online course like?
As a Mastermind, this is so much more than another course. That said, there is a course element which is the suite of content I provide as part of the experience. The content is made up of video trainings that I’ve recorded as a talking head, workbooks, templates, and downloadable checklists/cheatsheets.
How long did it take you to create your course?
I took the templates, documents, resources, and work I’d been doing in my 1:1 coaching program and transitioned it across. Then I used the first round to build out the remainder of the content, which I delivered monthly throughout the first 6 month round. I always recommend this, as it gives people an opportunity to create content that is in response to what their ideal client most needs, rather than creating everything BEFORE the experience even began.
Tell us a little about the process of launching your course and getting your first sale(s).
I started by privately inviting my current clients through personal invitation, which led to my first program round being 50% sold out.
From there, I used a masterclass strategy to warm up my audience and directed them to calls with me, which was what led to the sales for the next 50% of the program.
Do you have a lead magnet?
I have used many different lead magnets over the years, but right now have gratefully had several hundred-person waitlists and have directed people straight there (here) instead.
What’s the traffic strategy that works best for you?
The majority of my clients come through Instagram, and the relationship is nurtured through DMs and then calls, which has served me incredibly well. I spend time creating content and nurturing my relationships within my community, which I prefer and find far more effective than anyone automated lead generation strategy.
What online course platform are you using?
Kajabi and I like it!
Are there any features you wish it had?
Comments on modules that you could then create group conversations around would be amazing for some of my clients.
What made you decide to use your chosen platform over others?
What other tools do you use to run your online course business?
ConvertKit for emails, Acuity for booking calls, Asana for project management, Airtable for content, and Planoly for Instagram.
What books or training programs have you found useful on your journey to a successful business owner that others might find valuable too?
Some of my favorite business books include those by Seth Godin, and I’m absolutely loving Rachel Rodger’s new book “We Should All Be Millionaires.”
Do you have any big mistakes you’ve made along the way that you’d be willing to share?
I would have to say one of the biggest mistakes that I have made along the way would be pushing myself to the point of burnout in my first year out of corporate. I got adrenal fatigue and glandular fever.
Please share some idea of revenue.
We are on track to make our first million this year! So far during this calendar year, we have done more than $450,000 AUD.
Please tell us a little about what the money you’ve earned from your course has done for you.
So, so much. Personally: It’s supported us to buy our first home, it funded the majority of our wedding, we bought a camper trailer and have invested in stocks and shares.
Within the business it has meant I’ve been able to continue my own professional development through coaching and masterminds, and that I’ve been able to employ 3 incredible humans as retainer contractors, in addition to multiple other contractors.
It’s completely transformed our lives.
In addition to revenue are there any numbers you would like to share?
The numbers I’m most proud of are the results my clients have generated. I’ve now enrolled more than 100 humans into this program and currently supported more than 90 of them.
Of those 90, more than ⅓ have built 6-figure businesses.
What has creating your course done for you personally?
I feel like an empowered CEO that can truly do anything in my business. It’s enabled me to trust in myself, my abilities, and my dreams. It’s also created opportunities – both in terms of financial and choice freedom – that I wouldn’t otherwise have. I’m proud that it’s enabled me to build an incredible life for myself and my family.
