Who are you and what course have you created?
Legendary Infopreneur: It’s a complete brain dump on everything I know about creating and selling courses for a living. This is how I became a 7-Figure course creator in the Spanish market.
What market does your online course serve?
This course is intended for everyone who wants to turn their knowledge into a product to help people while making money.
What’s the biggest benefit of taking your course?
This program contains absolutely everything you need to create and sell online courses, it goes from finding out what to teach to market research to pricing the product, building a personal brand, overcoming stage fright, communication skills and learning systems, recording/editing audio, and video, marketing techniques, selecting and configuring the right platform to host and sell your course, legal aspects of creating your business, etc.
It all comes from my own experience, the experience that made me earn $1M+ in less than 3 years.
Why did you decide to create an online course in the first place?
My very first online course was in Spanish and it was about Forex Trading, but that’s a different story. Actually, that was the business that made me 7-figures and I managed to destroy it due to my own mistakes.
That led me to a deep depression and I had no idea what to do with my life, but after watching a Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi webinar, a phrase brought the light back to my life; it says: “Turn your mess into a message”. Then I knew that I still had something valuable to share and it is the knowledge and experience I have about creating a business selling courses from scratch and growing it to a 7-figure business.
Then, after creating the product in Spanish, I decided to expand my reach to the English market… However, I had a limiting belief, I thought that “my English isn’t good enough” and there’s where “The Dynamic Duet” (Robbins & Graziosi) came to my rescue again and gave me the courage I needed to overcome this fear, turn on the camera and start recording despite my accent or my limited vocabulary.
Did you have any moments of doubt before you created/launched it?
As I said before, yes! I thought that my English is not good enough to teach English-speaking people, and I’m still struggling with a different, yet related limiting belief and that is, I don’t know if I’m a likable person. I mean, I have friends and I know they like me but I relate to them in Spanish, so I’m not sure if I’m likable in English, if my way of speaking (learned from TV shows, movies and magazines because I never paid for an English course) is friendly enough or weird.
If so, what made you turn it around and do it anyway?
As I said, Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi are to blame for this. First, when they took me out of my dark place, hiding from everyone with a destroyed reputation, and then when they threw a challenge that forced me into turning my camera on, hitting record, and pressing the GO LIVE button on my Facebook app to speak English publicly for the first time in my life.
What’s your online course like?
It’s a 7-hours-long video course, me talking to the camera lens, a green screen behind me, and some images and video third-party resources here and there to help me illustrate the concepts.
How long did it take you to create your course?
It took me 3 months (give or take) the whole process of writing the script, recording lessons, editing the videos, uploading everything to a course hosting platform, configuring it to accept payments, and managing students.
Tell us a little about the process of launching your course and getting your first sale(s).
When it comes to Legendary Infopreneur, I’m about to launch this course for the first time in the English market. However, launching the Spanish version of it was a matter of announcing I was coming back, creating a little buzz by saying that I was going to teach how I built my 7-figure business selling online courses, selecting a group of people to beta test the content, asking them for reviews and then posting those reviews to social media, that helped me to build authority and expectation.
Do you have a lead magnet?
Yes, actually! I have a free PDF guide right now that you can download for free by entering your email address. It’s a list of 5 mistakes I made when I created and launched my first online course and how to avoid them. It allows me to build my email list and deliver value at the same time. Show them that I know what I’m talking about and why they should listen to me.
What’s the traffic strategy that works best for you?
For my Spanish courses, it was YouTube, I managed to raise an audience of 150K+ subscribers and that was my ONLY source of traffic, it was exposure enough to sell $30K+ a month without spending a single dollar on advertising.
Now, for my current Legendary Infopreneur Program, I’m still testing. I have a very conservative campaign on Google Ads and I’ve just started sharing content on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
What online course platform are you using?
Kartra and I love it! It has everything I need to host and market my course, including a landing page creator, an email marketing software, a calendar service, leads generator, video host, affiliate marketing platform, and much more. No need for integrations or third-party software.
Are there any features you wish it had?
I honestly think it has everything I need. I’m not missing anything.
What made you decide to use your chosen platform over others?
After testing other platforms such as Teachable or Click Funnels, I stumbled upon Kartra because I saw someone recommending it on YouTube and I was amazed by all of its features. When you use similar platforms, they’re missing some features or if they have it, they are not very good, and then you’ll need to integrate third-party services that will cost you extra money. Kartra has everything and it’s all high quality, everything looks professional and it’s really cheap in comparison.
What other tools do you use to run your online course business?
Instagram, YouTube, TkTok. vidIQ for YouTube SEO optimization. Wondershare Filmora. Canva. Audacity. Pixabay & Pexels. Google Ads. Speechelo. Instatext. Coschedule. iPage. PayPal. Doodly.
What books or training programs have you found useful on your journey to a successful business owner that others might find valuable too?
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Launch by Jeff Walker.
Do you have any big mistakes you’ve made along the way that you’d be willing to share?
My biggest mistake also gave me the ultimate life lesson. I was afraid to face the truth and I lied to my audience. That completely destroyed my reputation, it burnt down to ashes my entire business and I had started over from scratch. I had to sell almost everything to survive, I had to go to therapy to overcome my depression but I learned how living a life completely free of lies is so liberating and happy.
Please share some idea of revenue.
I had an average monthly revenue of $30K. My best month ever was $42K.
Please tell us a little about what the money you’ve earned from your course has done for you.
It completely changed my life. It took me out of bankruptcy and made me a millionaire almost overnight. At least that’s how it felt (it was really 3 years) I was able to move out of the tiny apartment I was into a bigger apartment and then to a fancy house in an HCOL area. I bought my first brand new car ever, then another and another. I bought 5 cars in total. Made some new friends, some of the Lamborghini owners that I got to drive sometimes. Allowed me to pay for the best medical care available when my daughter was born. I bought a lot of things I could only dream of and it ultimately made me feel peace about my future and my family’s future.
In addition to revenue are there any numbers you would like to share?
My biggest accomplishment in terms of subscribers was 155K+ on YouTube. It happened slowly within 3 years but it was huge for me, that also brought 22K+ followers on Instagram and it felt unreal to be recognized on the street. I wasn’t expecting to grow to those numbers, I was just focused on sharing a lot of valuable content on my YouTube videos and that was enough to get there.
What has creating your course done for you personally?I learned that I was able to teach and that I really enjoyed doing it. It made me feel that I had a purpose and that I have a talent, a gift to convey messages in a clear and understandable way. -Antonio Martínez Click To Tweet
It was a journey where I got to change people’s lives. Some of them still contact me to thank me for what I taught them and how that made an impact on them. I even have a close student who is now on his way to making millions from what he learned from me. Knowing that is far more valuable and feels a lot better than any amount of money in the bank.
Do you have a story of a transformation from any of your clients?
As I said in the previous answer, I have a close student. Someone who bought my forex trading course and then contacted me to help me produce better videos with better audio (my first videos really sucked and he’s an amateur music producer). He helped me with that in exchange for one-on-one coaching. I also gave him access to my advanced course (priced at $499). We became friends and he has recently started his own business solely based on what he learned from me.
He’s now teaching other people and providing trading insights services. He went from struggling to survive with his music to a successful business that’s making around $40K a month and growing rapidly. He’s the biggest success story I know from my students.
What advice do you have for people just starting out?
To be honest, this business works a lot better if you’re completely transparent from the beginning. You don’t have to be at the top. Let the people know about your messy middle. Let them walk with you. It’s a journey you can do together. -Antonio Martínez Click To Tweet
They’ll connect better with you, you’ll create a bond with your audience, they’ll trust you and you’ll get authority and a strong personal brand.
