Michael has an extensive background in the print-on-demand/print automation space and manages $6 million a year for clients around the world. He has also started his own print-on-demand company Viola Grace Shop.
With his knowledge and expertise, Michael has started the Paper Makers Club to show you how to start your own print-on-demand business with minimal investment
What market does your online course serve?
Parents that want to supplement their existing income to make ‘fun’ money, people that want to retire early, and retirees that want some extra cash or something creative to keep them busy.
What’s the biggest benefit of taking your course?
It’s front-heavy—What we teach in the course requires less time the longer you do it. For example, the students will probably spend several hours a day implementing what they learn in the course for the first 6 months to a year and the longer they do it the less time they have to devote to their Print on Demand Business.
How did you get into the market?
Years of print experience and a desire to make some extra cash—It’s an easy thing to implement that almost any one can replicate
Why did you decide to create an online course in the first place?
I find a lot of joy in helping other people out. We’ve had so much success with our business we want to teach other people how to do it.
Did you have any moments of doubt before you created/launched it?
Yes, it took me almost a year of thinking about it and trying to figure out if I had enough information and how to get started. I still have doubts about being able to provide my students with enough information but it keeps me motivated to keep adding content.
If so what made you turn it around and do it anyway?
Every time I spoke to people about our business they would tell us we needed to start a course and teach others how to do it. Finally, I just posed the question in a Facebook group and had an awesome response. Then I was able to connect with a software partner to help me build it out.
What’s your online course like?
Our founder’s group was live webinars where I worked with students online. The Course is now self-guided modules where students watch videos where I outline specific topics, explain with PowerPoints, and do live demonstrations with a screen share.
How long did it take you to create your course?
I mean it’s on-going. I continually add to the course in order to add value to my students to ensure their success. It’s taken years of experience to create the course and continual practice to make it simple for students.
Tell us a little about the process of launching your course and getting your first sale(s).
I tested the idea and started reaching out to people in Facebook groups.I got talking to people and gained the confidence that I have enough information and content that will help others succeed. - Michael Stone Click To Tweet
It all started to make sense when people began asking how much they needed to pay to have me teach them.
Do you have a lead magnet?
We are currently using a free video that outlines our framework. Then we also have plans to test free downloads of case-studies, live and recorded webinars, etc. We whet their appetite and then schedule a call.
What’s the traffic strategy that works best for you?We utilize social media ads to send people to our sales funnel, after they opt-in we send them a series of emails to get them engaged and schedule a call. - Michael Stone Click To Tweet
If they schedule a call we pull them out of the funnel and move them to a different segment. If they do not schedule a call they fall out of the main funnel once they finish the email series and drop into a separate series of emails.
What online course platform are you using?
I am using GoHighLevel as my course platform.
Do you like it?
Yes, it keeps everything in one spot, CRM, communication, payments, etc.
Are there any features you wish it had?
I wish it had its own video editing set-up.
What made you decide to use your chosen platform over others?
It allows us to have a central system for our sales funnel, communication, course hosting, etc.
What other tools do you use to run your online course business?
We use email, video ads, and TV/News Articles.
What books or training programs have you found useful on your journey to a successful business owner that others might find valuable too?
I liked the following books:
- “The Power of One More” by Ed Mylett
- “Raise Your Game”
Please share some idea of revenue.
In our first month, we collected $12,000 in sales and are projected to hit $45,000 per month.
Please tell us a little about what the money you’ve earned from your course has done for you.
It pays for all of our vehicles and vacations.
What has creating your course done for you personally?
It’s given me confidence in myself and my knowledge, plus it has continued to push me to learn more.
