  • Interesting Stats: $2m in sales from product created in 2010

Who are you and what course have you created?

I have been a digital course creator since 2010.

My first project was Girl Gets Ring with Travis Sago.

This product has done around $2m in sales in this time.

I have made products with Russel Brunson, the founder of Clickfunnels.

I’ve made a lot of products that I’m under NDA, so can’t tell you the name, but many have broken 1m in the health, anti-aging, and dating niches.

I now create my own products as well from my main site ServeNoMaster.com.

Here are some sales page for my current courses:

What market does your online course serve?

AI Freedom helps entrepreneurs and people in the workforce to learn how to use Artificial Intelligence tools to accomplish tasks faster. They can shorten the testing cycle which allows them to avoid the Sunken Cost Fallacy.

Jonathan Green's site What’s the biggest benefit of taking your course?

After completing the AI Freedom program, our students can shorten the testing cycle which allows them to avoid the Sunken Cost Fallacy. This is where someone becomes emotionally invested in something that isn’t working.

You try an online business model for six months and it doesn’t work, so you give it another three months.  You’ve spent six months and you don’t want to admit you wasted that time so you waste more time. Suddenly six months turns into twelve and you are more stuck than even.

Knowing how to use AI to complete tasks faster allows you to get 5 days of work done in 4 days every single week. You have more time to invest in new ideas and can avoid getting emotionally attached to an idea before you know if it’s a good one.

In this program, you learn how to create an amazing logo with hundreds of revisions in an hour. You don’t have to deal with the emotions of a graphic designer or the cost.  A task that can cost thousands of dollars, be quite stressful and take months…now takes less than an hour.  And if you decide you want a new logo next year, it’s an easy cost-free process again.

You can edit a book in a single day, avoiding the months and thousand of dollars an editor costs. You can write a blog post in minutes instead of hours.

With every task accelerated you can try more ideas and spend more time with your family.

How did you get into the market?

I have been teaching people how to build online businesses since 2010.  In that time I have written over 300 bestsellers for myself and clients.

I noticed that a ton of big companies simply added AI to the end of their product name and pretended that they teach people how to use AI tools.  Yet, they didn’t update their courses and the majority of the techniques they teach don’t even work.  They are all selling expensive software which is just a front-end for a watered down version of ChatGPT.

Every time I went through someone else’s training, I realized I could massively improve the process or simplify it.  With my experience creating courses, I simply teach people the exact techniques I use to accomplish tasks.

Why did you decide to create an online course in the first place?

I have been making online courses since 2010 when a company called me and asked me to write a book for them. I discovered that direct sales is more profitable and a better way to engage your customers than selling books through bookstores.  While I sell a lot of books through those bookstores, the profit is cripplingly low.  You have to spend all your money on ads and hope to make less than a dollar a book.

Creating online courses gives you complete control over your business and every penny that comes in. You don’t have to watch your income go down each time a platform increases their fees.

Did you have any moments of doubt before you created/launched it?

Everyone has Imposter Syndrome. And everyone thinks they are the only person to get it. After nearly fourteen years in this business, I can confidently say that it’s the most common support question I receive.

Everyone has fears that they won’t be good enough. You have to do it anyways. - Jonathan Green Click To Tweet

What’s your online course like?

My course is recordings of live sessions where I demonstrate each process on screen a few times with multiple examples. In addition to each video, customer’s receive a worksheet with every single prompt for them to copy and paste.  We have a thriving member’s community where we all support each other. Members also get access to custom software tools that I have built for my personal use, with no additional or recurring fees.

Every month we release a new live training module that covers changes in the market and new techniques.

How long did it take you to create your course?

We create the course live after selling copies on a webinar.  It was seven weeks in a row of live training.

Tell us a little about the process of launching your course and getting your first sale(s).

My partner Debbie and I first ran a live webinar to our existing audiences.  This allowed us to get a group of beta testers for the live training sessions at a lower price point.  We now run promotions with affiliates every week.

Do you have a lead magnet?

The main way I bring new people into my program is through my bestseller ChatGPT Profits.  This book is free for people with the Kindle Unlimited program on Amazon.  I run promotions with the book at 99 cents every few months to generate a fresh crop of excited users.

My other lead magnet is a piece of software that I created to create MidJourney prompts. It’s very hard to describe what you want to create if you’re not an art historian, so this free tool fills in the gap.  It’s the more comprehensive collection of prompts with visual explanations online.

People love it and we are constantly updating the tool with new prompts we discover in our research.

What’s the traffic strategy that works best for you?

The best strategy right now is paid ads to my book ChatGPT profits which leads people to my mailing list and then my webinar.  My second best strategy is cross promotions with other affiliates.

What online course platform are you using?

I build all of my courses on LearnDash, but this program is with a partner so it’s on Kajabi.

Do you like it?

It’s fine.

Are there any features you wish it had?

Kajabi has all the features we wanted.

What made you decide to use your chosen platform over others?

I use LearnDash because I’ve always built my own memberships. Putting everything into a platform that can change it’s pricing at anytime doesn’t appeal to me.  I’m a more technical person and I do have to do a lot of additional manual tasks because I like to separate parts of my business. If my sales pages crash, my membership areas are isolated.

What other tools do you use to run your online course business?

Debbie and I both use ThriveCart as our main shopping cart. It’s grown into the best solution on the market. There is no recurring fee and they don’t take a percentage off your transactions. When they first came on the market, I wrote a blog post about how I didn’t trust a company without a recurring fee.  My previous shopping cart, Paykickstart, has massively increased their monthly fees and when they sold to a new company, they started taking a percentage of transactions from your existing customers.  They took advantage of anyone with a recurring membership and now everyone is trying to switch to ThriveCart.

What books or training programs have you found useful on your journey to a successful business owner that others might find valuable too?

  • Ryan Levesque’s book ASK is amazing for understanding what your audience wants.
  • Marisa Murgatroyd – Experience Product Masterclass to learn how to create a product and write your first webinar
  • Andre Chaperon – Art of Email (formerly Autoresponder Madness) to learn how to write emails that sell

Do you have any big mistakes you’ve made along the way that you’d be willing to share?

Early on, I thought I needed a partner and it put me in the hospital and cost me a huge amount of money. You don’t need a partner and you always want to control your own business. - Jonathan Green Click To Tweet

I will work with a partner on a single project, such as AI Freedom with Debbie, but we have completely separate businesses and many solo products.  You never want another person in a position to devastate you financially.

Please share some idea of revenue.

We have sold 58 copies of AI Freedom which is a $997 course in the past 10 weeks.  This is still early days on this type of evergreen launch, so we expect to sell several units every week for the next 1-2 years.  This is my most recent launch so this number will be continually changing.

Please tell us a little about what the money you’ve earned from your course has done for you.

I took my kids on an epic vacation to Thailand where they saw hundreds of animals they’ve never seen before, road amazing roller coasters, saw snow for the first time and went to an amazing waterpark.

What has creating your course done for you personally?

It’s given me an asset that can generate more income than most fulltime jobs passively.

Do you have a story of a transformation from any of your clients?

My biggest success story was a single mom who quit her fulltime job to work from home and raise her kid.  One day picking up her son from daycare, he cried because he thought one of the daycare workers was his real mom.  She cried on the way home and after going through one of my programs she changed her life.

What advice do you have for people just starting out?

Most of your ideas will fail. Your first product will not sell.  Things will go wrong.  This is a business and bad things are going to happen. You’re going to spend time on systems that don’t work.  You’re not the only one.  Most top entrepreneurs have 2-3 good ideas per year. That comes with hundreds of bad ideas. If you start this process knowing their will be dips, you will be ready for that.

Most people who don’t succeed are failing because they quit, keep changing ideas or don’t listen to advice from people who know what they are talking about. Find a system that works and stick with it. - Jonathan Green Click To Tweet
