What market does your online course serve?

Our course serves businesses that want to pivot and grow through government contracting. It is for those who have tried numerous resources such as the internet, free SBA programs, webinars and they are not getting the “how to”. Often times trying to piece information together to get various answers form different sources can be overwhelming, and unfortunately most give up. We understand it can seem daunting at first so we created The Ultimate Beginners Guide course and Mentorship Program.

What’s the biggest benefit of taking your course?

It eliminates the need to use multiple sources for information. The course is designed as a step by step guide so when the course is complete your business is ready and positioned for government contracting. It also eliminates the need to attend multiple webinars, in-person information sessions, and waste time trying to figure out how to apply all the information to your business. It really makes it simple!

How did you get into the market?

We decided to create a step-by-step course guide to get your business started in government contracting because there weren’t any current guides that walked those new to government contracting through that process.

Those seeking information on how to get started from not knowing anything about it to being able to set up your business and be eligible for government contracts were often taken to multiple websites and resources that left them confused. Therefore, we created a one stop shop guide to walk through the process and educate about the market.

Why did you decide to create an online course in the first place?

We decided to create a course because it could reach more people. It also allowed people to work at their own pace oppose to spending thousands of dollars on a consultant to walk them through the process and the stress of meeting deadlines with their consultant.

Did you have any moments of doubt before you created/launched it?

We were excited at the idea and never thought we weren’t good enough. We were confident in this approach because we were combining my expertise in government contracting and our COO’s expertise, Kyle Jones, in course creation that we felt this was exactly the direction we should head in.

What’s your online course like?

Our course is a self-paced course that includes a combination of video, simulations that guide users through websites and action steps, and motion pictures as the instructor is going over information.

How long did it take you to create your course?

The entire course was brought to fruition in around 2 weeks. I curated the content while Kyle undertook the course design. To ensure a personalized experience, I recorded the instructional sessions. Kyle edited and polished the course, for a finalized product.

Tell us a little about the process of launching your course and getting your first sale(s).

We devised a targeted social media marketing strategy to amplify the course’s visibility. Remarkably, the very day of its launch, we secured our initial sale, and this momentum has endured, with consistent successful sales. Undoubtedly, this course addresses the needs of ambitious individuals seeking triumphant entry into government contracting.

Yes we a pleased with it, however we will be looking to get our own LMS soon.

Are there any features you wish it had?

Currently, Kajabi fits our needs. However, we do have plans on adding some new and convenient feature for our customers once we launch our own LMS

What made you decide to use your chosen platform over others?

Kajabi offered more features and was more user friendly then the other platform we considered with was Teachable.

What other tools do you use to run your online course business?

Currently, we only use Kajabi. However, we are working towards our own online platform.

What books or training programs have you found useful on your journey to a successful business owner that others might find valuable too?

We have used a combination of resources that have proven to be insightful along the way. We have read books like “Dare to Lead” by Brene Brown. Kyle Jones also has a mentor, Darren Hardy that we received a lot of advice and resources from.

Do you have any big mistakes you’ve made along the way that you’d be willing to share?

I don’t think we necessarily made mistakes. It was just a lot of learning as we went through the process of creating the course and launching it.

I like that about our process because there was never a fear of moving forward with the idea, working through the difficult times of creating the course, and staying focused until we reached our goal of passive income.

Please share some idea of revenue.

Our second quarter we made a revenue of $42,000. This was still going through the learning curve of sales and social media marketing. Our first quarter didn’t go as expected, but after we tried some new strategies, we saw a huge hike in sales.

Please tell us a little about what the money you’ve earned from your course has done for you.

We always strived for passive income, and the course has done that for us. It has allowed us to focus on other aspects of our business with the security of income each month. To us that is priceless, and to know that we have put the work in early and we will reap the benefits for as long as we sell the course.

In addition to revenue are there any numbers you would like to share?

We used sales funnels through Kajabi that allowed us to increase our subscribers to our desired goals we set each quarter. The funnel allowed us to create campaigns and email blast that eventually increased our social media following and sales.

What has creating your course done for you personally?

When we created the course, it definitely felt like an accomplishment. I wasn’t as easy to complete as we expected.

Do you have a story of a transformation from any of your clients?

There are several success stories and honestly all the mentees I work with meant a lot to me, so it would be hard to just pick one. One story I would like to share would be when one of our mentees was able to reach her goal of quitting her job and is now full time in her business with government contracting. It always feels good when the people we work with reach their ultimate goals.

I had a mentor when I first decided to go into business who would tell me what to expect and that the road to being a successful business owner is not easy. Therefore, I try to keep things in proper perspective even though that is challenging when things are not always moving as fast or in the direction you want them to.
